THAT VINTAGE LOOK
Getting 8mm or Super 8 film of a wedding adds a unique and nostalgic touch that digital video just can’t replicate. Film forces intentionality; no endless recording, just curated, meaningful clips. Film reels can be stored and passed down through generations. These were the standards for home videos for our parents and grandparents. Chances are if you ask them, they probably have a projector and some reels stored away in a box in the attic.
We can shoot a couple of rolls of film to incorporate into your final edit or make you a short highlight film with just film reels.
What's the difference between Super 8 and 8mm? Super 8 film comes on 50ft cartridges that can pop in a camera easily. Many of the Super 8 cameras were from the 1970's and are battery-operated. The film they produce is grainy and has a very vintage look.
8mm cameras take rolls of film called Double 8 and were very popular in the 1960's. Our 8mm camera was made in Switzerland in 1963 and is spring wound. With much better lens quality, it can produce some amazing images. Black and White film is my Fav! It does cost more to process and digitize though.
Does this add time to the turnaround...? Yes, it does. It's film so it needs to be developed first and then digitized and this process can take a couple of months. It's a very niche industry so there are not a lot of places that do this but the end result is well worth it.
